Philip recommends Picasa from Google

If you love photo editing and designing, you can download a free software from Google Lab at google.com: Picasa 2.

You can mix colors, you can turn CMYK (C for Cyan, M for Magenta, Y for Yellow, K for Black), the primary colors used by printer to just black-white photos on the effects.

The Picasa 2 also can locate all your photo files all over your hard drive. If you misplaced your girlfriends' (I mean lots of them), Picasa can help you with that.

To download the free software, click the button link at the right-sde bottom part of this page that says, "Get Photo software from Google". And you will be redirected to the downloading center of Google. It's free. No hassle.
